Travelocity Names Cancun Top New Year's Eve Destination
Last update 21 December, 2011
Travelocity published a list of the Top Ten New Year’s Eve Destinations, with Cancun as the #3 choice and the only international destination to make the list.
With average airfare prices at around $550 and an average daily rate of $300, Cancun offers one of the most affordable and accessible options on the list, which was published online by The Wall Street Journal Market Watch.
As New Year’s Eve 2011 approaches, many would-be travelers are still trying to decide where to spend this special night. To help people figure out what to do this year, Travelocity has published a list of the Top Ten New Year’s Eve Destinations, highlighting Cancun as the number three choice and the only international destination (not located in North America) to make the list.
With average airfare prices at around $550 and an average daily rate of $300, Cancun offers one of the most affordable and accessible options on the list, which was published online by The Wall Street Journal Market Watch. Furthermore, it is the only destination named by Travelocity that is not located in the United States. Known for its thriving nightlife, today Cancun is also a viable option for families, or anyone who wants to get away and ring in the New Year in a tropical paradise.
Visitors who choose to visit Cancun real estate for New Year’s Eve will enjoy the excitement and energy that comes with the thousands of visitors, including a variety of live music and entertainment. Here, revelers will enjoy dancing, dining and excellent cuisine, all offered along the shores of the stunning Mexican Caribbean.
Other cities mentioned on Travelocity’s 2011 list include Orlando, New York City, South Florida, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Denver, San Francisco, Phoenix and Chicago. The destinations were chosen based on flight and hotel vacation package booking information.
“Though many people associate New Year’s Eve with the ball dropping in New York City’s Times Square, it turns out the Big Apple is not the most popular place to ring in the New Year,” shared Genevieve Shaw Brown, a senior editor with Travelocity. “Travelers who booked their New Year’s Eve trips as vacation packages are ahead of the curve. This money-saving tactic is definitely a trend in travel for the coming year.”
